With the fall season approaching, we almost get to say ‘Hello’ to some of the best food and cuisine we get to experience all year. It’s part of what makes the fall season so special for so many people around the world.
While there are so many great dishes and desserts when it comes to the fall season, today we’re going to be discussing some of our favorite soup recipes. Some of us will start to experience the weather cooling down, making soup a go-to this time of the year.
Below, you’ll find two of our favorite soup recipes to make in the fall, including our creamy potato soup recipe and delicious lentil soup recipe.

If you’re a potato and bacon fan, this might be one of your favorite soup recipes ever. The secret to the best creamy potato soup is pureeing about half of the soup and leaving the other half a little more chunky. This gives it the perfect balance of creamy and chunky.
When making our creamy potato soup, you’ll need the following: 6 strips of bacon, 3 tbsp. butter, one chopped onion, 3 minced garlic cloves, ⅓ cup flour, 2.5lbs. of potatoes, 4 cups chicken broth, 2 cups milk, ⅔ cup heavy cream, salt, pepper, ancho chili powder, ⅔ cup sour cream, and shredded cheese.
Once you cook the bacon to your preference, set it aside and use the leftover fat to start cooking the chopped onion and butter on the stove. Add the garlic in the pot until fragrant, pour the flour in, and stir until smooth.
Next, add the potatoes (diced), broth, milk, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and ancho chili powder. Bring that to a boil and cook for roughly 10 minutes before removing half of the soup and pureeing it in a blender. Return it back to the pot and stir while adding bacon and sour cream.
Simmer for about 15 minutes before serving. Top with any of your favorite herbs and enjoy your creamy potato soup recipe!
If you’re looking for another recipe to try this fall, we recommend the delicious and savory lentil soup recipe. Many of you likely haven’t tried this one, but it’s a great recipe for the fall season and can help you stay warm and comfy as the leaves change color.
Packed with protein and fiber, our favorite lentil soup recipe requires the following: extra virgin oil, one yellow onion, 2 peeled and chopped carrots, 4 pressed garlic cloves, ground cumin, curry powder, dried thyme, one can diced tomatoes, 1 cup brown lentils, 4 cups vegetable broth, 2 cups water, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, chopped kale, and lemon juice.
Heat the oil before adding the carrots and onion. Let that cook for about 5 minutes, stirring often, before adding the thyme, cumin, garlic, and curry powder. Next, add the tomatoes and let it cook for a few minutes before adding the lentils, water, and broth. Finally, you can add the salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Bring that to a boil, reduce the heat to simmer, and leave the lid partially covered. After 25-30 minutes, remove half the soup and puree in a blender. Return the puree to the pot and stir well. Add the greens, let it cook for a few minutes, and then you’re good to go!
