Cedar construction
Western red cedar's natural moisture and insect resistance makes it ideal for bridge applications where the structure is in close proximity to water and soil. Cedar bridges develop beautiful silver-gray patina naturally if left unfinished, or hold warm wood tones indefinitely when stained and periodically re-sealed.
Sizing guide
Choose the width (3, 4, 5, or 6 feet) based on the intended use — 3 feet is appropriate for single-person foot traffic, 4 feet allows two people to pass comfortably, and 5-6 feet creates a more generous walkway feel. Choose the length to span your water feature plus at least 12 inches on each side for stable footing on the banks.
