The A&L Furniture Yellow Pine Marlboro Swingbed is the best-selling porch swing bed in the A&L lineup — a wider, deeper, and more luxurious version of the classic Amish Marlboro porch swing, scaled up to accommodate lying flat. Handcrafted in Gap, Pennsylvania by Amish craftsmen since 1984, it delivers the warmth and character of solid yellow pine with the comfort of a true outdoor daybed.
Available in 4-foot, 5-foot, and 6-foot widths across 17 stain options plus unfinished. All hanging hardware and rope included.
The Marlboro style
The Marlboro profile features a classic highback silhouette with vertical back slats and a straight top rail — the most timeless and versatile of porch swing designs. It suits virtually any home style, from traditional farmhouses and craftsman bungalows to modern farmhouse and Southern Colonial porches. As a swing bed, the generous seating depth and flat surface make it ideal for napping, reading, and extended outdoor lounging.
Yellow pine construction
Yellow pine (southern yellow pine) is one of the hardest and most durable softwoods — substantially stronger than cedar or most other pine species. A&L has used it as their primary swing bed material since the beginning because it withstands the structural loads of a large swing bed better than lighter woods, holds stain well, and develops warm character over decades. For maximum weather protection, choose a stained finish; unfinished wood accepts any exterior stain or sealer you prefer.
Sizing guide
- 4-foot: Seats 2 adults upright; fits 1–2 adults lying side by side comfortably. Minimum 7-foot porch width recommended.
- 5-foot: The most popular size — comfortably fits 2 adults lying with room to spare. Minimum 8-foot porch width recommended.
- 6-foot: The most generous option — fits 2 adults with full room to spread out, or 1 adult plus a child. Minimum 9-foot porch width recommended.
