A porch swing is the single piece of outdoor furniture that most transforms a front porch from a passageway into a destination. Whether you want a low-maintenance recycled plastic swing in a bold color, a traditional cedar swing with natural wood character, or a luxurious swing bed for outdoor napping, we have the right porch swing for your home.

How to choose a porch swing

The three key decisions when buying a porch swing are material, size, and style:

Material

Recycled plastic poly lumber is the best long-term choice for most homeowners — completely maintenance-free, UV-stable, and impervious to moisture, rot, and insects. Cedar and cypress offer natural wood beauty but require annual or biennial sealing in most climates. Treated pine is the most affordable wood option but requires the most maintenance over time.

Size

A 4-foot swing comfortably seats 2 adults and fits most standard porch widths. A 5-foot swing seats 2–3 people. Measure the width of your porch opening and ensure at least 18 inches of clearance on each side of the swing — a 6-foot-wide porch needs a 4-foot swing at most. How to hang a porch swing

Porch swings hang from ceiling joists using eye bolts, chains or rope, and a hanging kit. Each attachment point should support at least 3x the total expected load (furniture + occupants).
