Outdoor Lighting Ideas That You’ll Love

While most people are focused on how the exterior of their house looks during the day, it’s just as important to bring that beauty out at night as well. With the right outdoor lighting, you not only gain functionality, but also a gorgeous look.

There are plenty of different options you’ll come across when searching for the perfect outdoor lighting for your home. Whether you need something mounted to a wall, hanging from the ceiling, posted to the ground, or flush to the ceiling, The Porch Swing Store has a wide selection to choose from.

Today, we’re going to go over some of our favorite outdoor lighting designs that help bring out your porch’s personality both during the day and at night time. Let’s get started!

  • Hanging Porch Light

Our first design is the hanging porch light, which is perfect for patios with a high ceiling -- but you can also customize the size of the chain it hangs on. A good example of a hanging porch light is the Ponderosa Hanging Lantern. It’s got three bulb sockets and is the perfect balance between rustic and fashionable.

If you wanted something with a little more style and complexity to it, the Hartford Hanging Lantern is modest and elegant. A hanging porch light is a good option, but it’s far from the only option!

  • Standing Porch Light

The next design we’ll look at is a standing porch light, which comes attached to a post that gets poked into the ground. If you’re looking to use this as a front porch light, it’ll look amazing on both sides of the steps as you walk up.

The Anastasia Large Post Mount is a perfect example of what we’re talking about here. It would match well with the Hartford Hanging Lantern if you wanted to use those as the actual front porch light fixtures.

If you want to get creative with it, you can also purchase an anchor mount yourself and buy an attachable porch light fixture of your choice. This will give you a wide range of options to choose from, such as the Saddlebrook Mount, Monterey Mount, and the Belmont Mount.

  • Flush Mount Porch Light

The third design we’ll look at are the flush mount porch light fixtures. Instead of hanging from the ceiling like the first design we discussed, these sit flush to the ceiling and are best for shorter ceilings. It’ll look much more uniform and might be better for those experiencing frequent winds.

If you liked the Ponderosa Lantern from the first design, the Ponderosa Flush Mount is a similar design. The Santa Barbara Flush Mount is another popular front porch light, but with a little less pizzazz.

  • Wall Porch Light Fixtures

The fourth and final design we’ll look at are the wall porch light fixtures. As the name suggests, these will be mounted to the wall instead of the ceiling. It’s generally found right next to the exterior door to help with visibility.

The Tudor Porch Light is a single-light front porch light that would match well with the Ponderosa designs we’ve talked about before. On the other hand, the Santa Barbara Porch Light is a double-light fixture that would match the flush mount version perfectly.

It doesn’t matter which light you’re interested in, The Porch Swing Store has plenty of designs to choose from! Once you figure out your outdoor lighting situation, you can start to move into the interior lights -- we’ll help you with that, too.
